Starting with an “Impossible Dream” in 2002, Kilauea Drama & Entertainment Network (KDEN) celebrates its 15th birthday with “Dreams DO Come True” on Friday, June 9th. The evening will include a sumptuous dinner and a silent auction/raffle. The party will start at 6pm at Amalfatano’s Restaurant in the Waiakea Villas. Proceeds from the event will help to fund this summer’s musical, Finian’s Rainbow.
The menu includes anti pasto, Italian salad, pizza, meatballs in Italian gravy, Italian sausage in gravy, meat lasagna, vegetarian lasagna, eggplant Parmesan, steak, and chicken. There will be desserts including a birthday cake. There will be non-alcoholic beverages and a no-host bar.
Items in the auction/raffle include a Body Glove Cruise for 2, a handmade afghan, cymbidium orchid plants, a catered dinner, artwork, a beauty package, a chocolate torte, and a special prop from one of KDEN’s shows.
Entertainment will be by Walter Greenwood at the piano with Rachel Edwards (KDEN’s Cinderella). Guests will also be encouraged to perform.
Kilauea Drama & Entertainment Network is a nonprofit community theater organization whose goal it is to foster quality Community Theater. We seek to enrich and unite our community through involvement in the performing arts. KDEN was formed in 2002 by experienced Community Theater organizers and performing artists. Since its founding KDEN has presented an average of 2 shows per year, a Living History Program with HVNP, sponsorship of the Volcano Festival Chorus and started a theater program at Volcano School of Arts and Sciences Middle School which is now part of the curriculum.
KDEN is a member organization whose membership consists largely of participating members (anyone who participates onstage or off and goes through the entire rehearsal and performance process). They are the backbone of our organization as they volunteer to help with all projects we undertake. The donating members, which are growing in numbers, help to sustain our organization. We are working on corporate memberships that would sponsor specific projects or parts of projects like the orchestra or posters and program printing.
